Learning to self-soothe
Feeling our own distress and emotion is a natural part of being human but often learning how to self-regulate without the support of another is a vital part of our own emotional intelligence. In distress, we often revert to our natural response, our initial childhood methods of soothing. This action can often be unhelpful as we no longer have a carer to sooth our emotions for us. In order to develop self-soothing strategies, this booklet takes you through a series of guidelines to understand how you can support yourself in times of overwhelm.
